Amsterdam

Last year my boyfriend and myself went to Amsterdam for a few days instead of going on a big holiday.

Once we landed in Amsterdam airport I was amazed, it was so big and had a shopping center in the middle of it, I was in love. It had an H&M and Victoria Secret's. We got on the train to center of the city and got on the tram to go to our hotel. The trams were amazing and so frequent. That night was just spent getting use to were we where and seeing what Amsterdam had to offer for us.

The next day we decided that one of the best ways to see all that Amsterdam had to offer by getting on one of the city sight seeing bus. We got to see things like Anne Franks house; the queue to get in was huge. We decided not to go in but seeing it from the outside was good enough for us. We then went onto going to see the Heineken Museum which one of my personal highlights of the trip. We got to walk around and see the history of the company and see how it grew. From a marketing student perspective it was amazing to see. We also got to see how the beer was made. We also got a free sample and then a few more free drinks. At the end we were given a free glass as part of our tour and then went back onto the bus to finish the tour. Once we had finished the tour we went and done a little shopping and looking at all the different bridges that Amsterdam are so famous for. That night we went for dinner at the Hard Rock CafĂ©, which was amazing, and then, did our own little bar crawl.

The day before we flew home we went on one of the cannel boats and went around of the few canal's and saw Amsterdam from the water. It was so nice and it was great to see all of Amsterdam by boat. After we had done this we went to Madame Tussauds, which was just off Amsterdam’s main square. It was a good way to spend the afternoon. Then we took a walk to the famous Red Light District. It was very strange but I felt that it was something I had to do as it’s a big part of the cities culture.

Once this trip was over I was really sad to be going home but I had the most amazing time. I have done nothing but recommend it to people as a place to go and see. I would go back in a heart beat.
